Converting Fractions and Decimals

Fractions are: Decimals are: Percents are:
whole numbers anything anything
whole numbers 1 100
e.g. 1, 3, 5, etc. e.g. 0.1, 0.5, 0.375 e.g. 60% = 60, 54.7%=54.7

Not 30%, 0.1 or 0.5 e.g. 6 = 6 = 6.0

Convert means change

e.g. Fractions to Decimals

1 = 0.5
2 1

Convert 3 to a decimal:
4

3 = .75
4 1 o.75 is a Terminating decimal

Convert 2 to a decimal:
3

2 = .6666.....
3 1 0.666666.........is a repeating decimal, another way to write this is:

0.6 (the line is supposed to be above the six)
