MathLinks Textbook page 138 #10

Change each fraction to a repeating decimal,
then use the bar notification to show the repeating part.

a) 5/6 = ?

b) 2/3 = ?

c) 45/99 = ?

d) 7/11 = ?

The answers are:
a) 0.833333..... can be also 0.83 ( the line is over 3)
b)0.666666..... can be also 0.6 (the line is over 6)
c)0.454545..... can be also 0.45 (the line is over 45)
d)0.636363..... can be also 0.63 (the line is over 63)

The solutions are:

a) 6 divided by 6 and 5 divided by 6, which results to 83/1.

b) 3 divided by 3 and 2 divided by 3, which results to 6/1.

c) 99 divided by 99 and 45 divided by 99, which results to 45/1.

d) 11 divided by 11 and 7 divided by 11, which results to 63/1.
