First of all they don't have the same denominator, so you have to find it by finding
the denominators common factor!
2: 2, 4, 6<--
3: 3, 6<--
- Six is their common denominator!

Second, Now you write down 6 + 6 on your paper. And at the top you should have your question down.

2 + 3
Third: In your question, look how many twos are in 6, it's 3 right, so mulitply 4x3= 12 so bring that down to your new question:
12

6 + 6
Then, do the same thing to 2, how many 3's in 6, 2 right, so muliply 3x2= 6 add that to the new question =
12...6
_..._ =
6+6
WAIT! 6/6 = whole number so it'll be 1. So the answer will be 1 12/6

Great post. But the title is kind of misleading; How to change fractions? to what? Also this is more like "Adding fractions with a uncommon denominator".

2x2=4
So it should look like this
12/6 + 4/6= 16/6
6/6 + 10/6= 1 10/6
1+ 6/6+4/6=2 4/6
Lowest term- 2 2/3
